Jakq - No :) *if you enjoy sentai there is definitly something for you here, and it mercifully gets put down after 35 episodes, but i cannot in good faith recommend this one unless you are that special kind of brain rotted*

Battle Fever J - i mean it when i say yes. Theres a lot of good stuff here especially for people that are familiar with/appreciate the sentai formula

Denziman - eeeeeeh i am VERY soft on this show but it DOES struggle through the middle and that hurdle may be a little too big for some

Sun Vulcan - if you enjoy tokusatsu FOR the tokusatsu then yeah watch this one. The robots are beautiful and the fights are brilliant. However if you want literally anything else on your burger then this one is not for you lmao

Goggle V - if you're interested in watching an older sentai this is definitly one i would recommend. If you enjoy it you would probably also dig sun vulcan

Dynaman - this one is fun and easy from start to finish but if you are like my mother and need to audibly eyeroll every time there is ass then tread lightly i genuinly cannot tell if there actually was a heap of ass or if i'm telling on myself because all i remember is the ass LMAO

Bioman - yes watch this one. Watch bioman. You know you want to watch bioman. Be ready for period typical panty shots ig

Changeman - YES. WATCH THIS ONE. PLEASE. PLEASE WATCH CHANGEMAN.

Flashman - once again yes, this one is 100% worth your time. If you liked ToQger you'll dig this one. Inoue's first ever sentai ep is in this season if that means anything to you

Liveman - eeh, if you want that more """mature""" story telling there are others i'd recommend first, but the suits are good and the bad guys sure are a hoot so

Fiveman - ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ its good and its enjoyable but imma be honest there isnt much here that you wont also find somewhere else

Dairanger - yeah watch this one, the characters are good the suits are pretty the music slaps, but be ready for it to kinda trip and fall at the end

Kakuranger - very good more comically focused season that according to that one poll is criminally under watched everyone go watch kakuranger right now thank you. For the sake of every friday in california.

Ohranger - watch this one if you like robots. Be prepared for it to be all over the place

Carranger - 100%, beautifully done parody from a place of love and appreciation. Zonette is here

Megaranger - sentai highschool au. If you watched power rangers as a kid this is probably my go to recommendation

Gingaman - yes watch gingaman but also be ready for a slower, generally more "quiet" story, if that makes sense

Kiramager - personally i think this one would be a great launching point if you're new to the franchise. You should watch kiramager. 🖊🍍🍎🖊

King Ohger - eeeh. Its VERY unique and hard to compare to other sentai. If you can get past the green screen then yeah give it a watch. It suffers a little from the stakes getting a bit too high for their own good but its largely enjoyable

Boonboomger - 100% you should watch boonboom. It was an absolute delight to watch. Pure sentai bliss.

Do you have any advice on rating albums out of 10? I'm trying to start using rateyourmusic because I love both music and making lists but it's very difficult to accurately give albums a score without contradicting myself, especially with how little I've listened to compared with most people on this site. You seem really carefree and positive about the whole thing so if you have a system that works for you I would love to hear about it. Peace

ooo good question:) it took a while for me to develop a system i like but i think ive got it down pretty well at this point!

5/5- core/perfect album. theres an important distinction between a perfect album and an album thats really important to me but i think its fine to just lump them together

4.5/5- perfect but with maybe one bad song. atom heart mother by pink floyd is a great example because every song is fantastic up until alans psychedelic breakfast which is just a long field recordings type song that might have its merit for others but i see nothing in. hence the album is almost perfect/a favorite but i put it here

4/5- albums i like a great deal and want to return to/already listen to a lot, but dont necessarily connect to as much as others. albums that are perfectly very much above average. this is where most of my rated albums are

3.5/5- albums that impress me more than average but without drawing me in that much

3/5- "Good". the baseline. this is the lowest score i give to albums that i still listen to

2.5/5- not my thing but i dont want to give it any lower because it just wasnt for me and thats fine. i dont like to rate an album too low just because i didnt like it. sometimes i come back to my 2.5 star albums and reassess them to see if my taste has maybe changed enough for me to enjoy them

2/5 and below- these are incredibly vibes-based and i dont really have a consistent system for them

Why byler? Is my question what is it about them that’s so popular

ooo this is a fun one. im assuming you may be one of my newer followers who didnt follow me when i was in the byler trenches. welcome. let me explain.

i think probably the biggest reason people gravitate towards byler is that its extremely fun for people who love film analysis because most of us genuinely believe it will happen in s5. for me specifically, this is the entire reason im here. i first started liking byler when s2 came out but it was casual. i just thought they'd be cute together. once s3 came out and i saw someone point out that mike was framed perfectly in a closet, that was my turning point. thats when i got insane about them because i actually believed its where they were headed.

its always fun to ship your favorite characters and engage in fanfics and fanart, but when theres a genuine belief that this is the direction the story is actually going in, its just a completely different experience. its a whole other world. its no longer about the characters themselves anymore. its about the cinematography, the props, the color palettes, the music choices, the blocking, the lighting. all of these things and more have provided evidence for why we believe byler will be endgame. its the perfect ship for people who are really passionate about filmmaking as a whole. 

many of us, including myself, got our degrees in film or have a background in filmmaking. ive made my own films and i plan to make more. one of them was screened at a festival. ive written academic papers on shows and movies. i've taken college film classes where my professors talked about stranger things. im a professional photographer which coincides a lot with film. i have this blog to talk about my favorite fictional media online. every time i watch something new i read long analyses on the media. if they dont exist, i write them myself and post them here. i love talking about and learning about and watching cinema on a much deeper level than someone who just throws on a show when theyre bored. so watching two complex characters not only have romantic tension in their actions and dialogue alone, but also have enough depth to analyze the practical filmmaking choices that prove they are going to end up together…. well its like fucking cocaine to me.

another reason is that mike wheeler, in my opinion, has the potential to have some of the most well written internalized homophobia ever. and i think he differs greatly from a lot of other characters with internalized homophobia because the writers have had the patience to not fully confirm his sexuality until the final season. many other queer characters who struggle with their sexuality come to terms with it over the course of one season or less. or they write it with dramatic irony so the audience is always well aware they are queer from the getgo, even if the character doesnt know yet. while theres nothing inherently wrong with any of these choices, i think having a more outside perspective on internalized homophobia and having that perspective be told slowly will make for a much more authentic and powerful queer coming of age story. i think all of mikes flaws and animosity towards both will and el will pay off so much once we know what hes been going through. i believe this character actually has the potential to reach people who arent accepting of the queer community right now.

byler also just resonates with the queer community so much. a lot of queer ships, especially mlm ships, are dominated by straight women, sometimes to the point where the ship doesn't even feel like its a part of queer culture anymore. its just nice to have a gay ship that feels like its for gay people. and as much as i love a really well written tragedy, its also nice that we can see a happy ending so clearly.

in short, its just fun. the whole "will they/wont they" element is fun as hell. ive never had that with a ship before. i tend to lean towards slow burns that i know will be canon (snowbaz <3) or tragedies that are so gut wrenching i dont even WISH they got together (jackieshauna <333) byler however just speaks to my film loving soul on such a deep level. its perfect for me. its so fun to analyze and read other people's analyses. i cant wait to see how it unfolds in s5.

i think buffy and spike and dru have a special bond in this because of the summer they spent in l.a. and everything that came out of that. i mean, angel was buffy's big first crush, and darla was and remains her mentor, but spike and drusilla are her partners in crime in a way that even willow and xander - who are like her human partners in crime - dont quite get. and then when the three of them started having sex, it really drew them together as a trio.

tara's alive in this au but she's moved to berkeley in the s6-s7 summer break and broken up with willow after almost dying. because i decided so.

s7 faith and kendra come back ... idk i feel there are big changes here. robin shows up, obvs, and he hates spike at first because he mistakenly believes spike killed nikki so we get a really touching scene where spike tells him about how much nikki loved him, what she did for him etc etc - kind of the opposite of what happened in canon lmao. i think jenny and giles get in a big fight honestly, because giles is so not down with buffy having a vamp harem, whereas jenny is cautiously okay with it and supportive.

the potentials would be SHOCKED and i think a lot of them would question buffy's judgement and reasoning, too. it would cause a lot of tension. especially like

NEW POTENTIAL SLAYER: [stumbles to the kitchen to get a glass of water in the middle of the night] [four pairs of eye shine flicker in the pitch black kitchen] NEW POTENTIAL SLAYER: [shrieks]

theres an au somewhere in which the romani spellcaster that curses angelus doesnt just curse angelus, but rather curses every vampire of the aurelian line in a, say, twelve mile radius to get their soul back.

it's rough, especially for the first few years. spike's the weepiest, but angel takes it the hardest, oddly enough. dru's absolutely nutty over it, but she's always nuts, and anyway, having the three of them to wrangle gives darla something to focus on other than the weight of her sins. they manage.

(one thing she does is research what, exactly, has been done to them. when she finds out about the loophole - even a moment's happiness - there is a gut-lurching second where darla thinks to herself, i can end our agony. and then she thinks of her last kill, a young couple and their toddler. the father had begged darla to spare the little child's life, to take him instead. the mother had clawed at darla, covering her child with her body, screaming as she died.

rather than find that moment's happiness, darla begins new research, looking into ways to secure an immortal soul to a vampire's body permanently. closing the loop, as it were.)

spike eventually gets it into his head that he wants to do the slayer thing - not kill them, like he'd planned, but to help the poor girls. dru gives him the idea. angel leaves them, at that point, in the dead of night, without telling them where he's going. darla lets him go.

there's a girl in peking - xin, her name is, and she's understandably skeptical, but she accepts their help. they fight with her until she dies, a few months later, at the hands of an apocalypse. it breaks spike and dru quite badly - cuts spike's face up, too. darla gets them out, gets them back to europe. leaves them in italy. looks for angel.

she finds him eating rats in new york city, of all places. she shakes some sense into him and gets him some clean clothes, some blood, a place to sleep out of the sun. he's wallowing, which is to be expected, but how does he figure he's going to atone for his sins if he's rotting in the gutter like so much trash?

she's too practical, he tells her. he's too fucking dramatic, she tells him, and makes him eat some more pig's blood, cold.

darla tells him about spike and dru, what they've been up to these past few decades. he shudders when she tells him about xin, her throat ripped out by enemy fangs. angel's intrigued by the concept of helping slayers, but he confesses quietly to darla that he's not ready for that yet.

so they part ways again, with the understanding that they'll stay in touch. darla bounces around the americas, running into spike and dru - sometimes just dru, as spike is off chasing rumors of slayers - until the late 1990s, when she gets a call from angel.

angel's found a girl, and he wants to get the gang back together.

Extreme Doll Makeover

Babycorn poked the ends of one of her braids. They felt hard and bristled. No matter what she did to her hair it remained the same. The urge to bite down on it also remained the same. Nowadays there were a lot of other things she could eat so she tended to bite down on it less. She could always remember thinking that it felt a lot like straw.  “Uncomfy…” She was familiar with straw, having slept in it before. Otherwise she often thought of her hair looking like uncooked spaghetti noodles.  That was the entire reason she had been tempted to eat it.  Maybe it would taste better if she cooked it?

back in the days of paradise maize looks at her dolls and wonders if they need a make over

Maize let out another grumble as she passed the comb through her doll’s wool hair. 

“Is everything alright Miss Maize?” Sicily asked, “This is the thirteenth time you’ve made that noise while brushing my hair this morning!” It was incredibly consistent and incredibly concerning. “Is there something wrong?”

Worst case scenario was that Maize had gotten her heart broken in just the few hours that she had been awake. It wasn’t likely but considering Maize herself, it also wasn’t entirely impossible either. 

“Maybe it's because she got in trouble this morning at work?” Venice was sitting on the windowsill, watching the people below them. 

“Well how was she supposed to know that pouring carrots into the coffee machine would break it?!” Or make a bunch of other co-workers sick?! Sicily was convinced that the fault lied with the others, not Maize. “I thought they would have thanked us…” She sniffled, “After all carrots help you see better!”

 With another grumble, Maize set the brush down on the table next to her. 

Sicily quickly turned around, noticing that Maize had turned around and walked away. “Miss Maize?” Something was definitely wrong. The moderately sized ragdoll carefully climbed off of the stool she was sitting on. Though not carefully enough as her foot ended up slipping. “OoF!” Sicily stumbled onto the ground and landed flat on her face. “I’m okay!” She managed to muffle out. . 

The noise of Sicily falling to the floor was enough to get Maize’s attention away from whatever thought was plaguing her mind. “Oh no Sicily!” Maize ran over and picked Sicily off the ground as gently as she could to stand her back up. Easier said than done considering that at any point one part of Sicily could weigh more than the other. 

“There we go!” Maize scooted back and let Sicily stand on her own for a couple seconds. 

Sicily moved her limbs around to check up on them. “Everythings all good!” Sicily smiled. And pushed a few locks of her orange colored hair out of the way. “Are you all right too Miss Maize?” 

“Well I’m not the one who took a tumble!” Maize smiled. She gave Sicily a boop on her triangle nose and giggled alongside her. “Venice? Are you doing okay too?” She didn’t want her other doll to feel left out. Even if he wasn’t really paying attention. 

Venice looked over with a bored expression. “I’m fine! See?” He flopped his doll arms around. 

“That’s good. Could you brood somewhere else than the window though? I don’t want you falling and landing on someone on the ground.” 

“But…I look really cool.” Venice pouted. 

“I promise you’ll look really cool if you sit anywhere else.” 

Maize walked over and gave him a sympathetic pat on the head, making sure not to mess with his little hat. It was his charm point after all. Couldn’t mess with that. Venice didn’t put up much of a fight and hopped off the window sill. “Fine! But I’m gonna go sit on the couch arm!” Or try to. Since most of the time he tried to sit there he ended up flopping down on the couch instead. 

It was far more comfortable.

Maize watched Venice struggle to climb on top of the couch. She knew well that offering to help him would be a bust. He refused any help like that. Something about wanting to look cool and capable. She rested her head on her hand, Venice didn’t always used to be like that.

Maize felt something tugging on her clothes. “Huah?” She looked down and noticed Sicily looking right at her, she looked worried about something. “Miss Maize? Is there something still bothering you or is it okay now?” 

Obviously Sicily was talking about her groaning and moaning from a few moments ago. It made sense for her to still be worried about it. Sicily was always the more anxious between the two dolls. 

The answer to Sicily’s worries always seemed to be resolved by the power of just asking. Once again, Maize grumbled, “It’s just–your hair.” She knelt down and ran her fingers through Sicily’s bright orange woolen hair.

“My HAIR?! IS there something wrong with it?!” 

Of course Maize’s first mistake was being too vague. “Ah-! No, no, no! Your hair is perfect!” She had made it after all. “It’s just…”

“Just what?” Venice asked from across the room. He knew his sister would be too busy trembling in fear to ask.

“It’s just too stale!” Maize wailed, loud enough for her neighbors to hear. “You’ve had the same hair color and material for years now!” Maize had only been a little girl when she had made Sicily and Venice so of course she hadn’t had that many materials at hand. “I can do so much better now!”

Sicily moved her head side to side, swaying her long orange hair around. “Then does that mean I get a haircut?!” The idea of it was kind of scary, but the exciting kind of scary. The possibilities of her new hair were almost endless. She also knew that Maize would do a great job, no matter the outcome.

“It does but…” Maize looked around her apartment, “I can’t figure out what material to use…”

Using yarn was the most obvious choice but it was so cliché. There were a dozen dolls out there with the same kind of hair. Granted none of them were alive like Sicily and Venice but Maize wanted something that just made her dolls pop! 

Suddenly something caught Maize’s attention. 

“Wait…"

An overturned can of spaghetti sauce spilled all over her kitchen. 

“And here we are-!” 

‘Here’ turned out to be some sort of unassuming restaurant. Sicily darted around, looking everywhere and being the cause of several people walking the other way. “Where are we Miss Maize?” 

Maize chuckled, “Only the best restaurant in the world! With all the most quality ingredients!” She yelled out as if she was some sort of walking advertisement for the place. 

Sicily and Venice were both confused. “But Miss Maize-? We’ve never been here.” Venice confidently stated. Right next to him Sicily nodded her head to show that she agreed with him. After all, Maize never went anywhere without bringing them along. “How can you know the food is good if you’ve never eaten here?” 

“...It was the only one I could find that served spaghetti and wasn’t six hours away.” Maize bashfully tipped her fingers together and tried to laugh away her lie. “But-! I saw lots of good reviews from here! So it must have the best quality spaghetti we can swipe too!”

“Why don’t we just go inside and ask for spaghetti? And pay for it with you know…? Money?”

“We can’t. Because Maize spent all her money constantly ordering food last week so she could see that delivery girl she got a crush on. Remember?” Venice oh so helpfully explained.

“Oh right.”

As soon as Maize opened the door to the restaurant, several of its patrons decided that they suddenly had more pressing matters to attend to and bolted out from the other exit. The ones who were left either hadn’t noticed her or didn’t know Maize at all.

One of those people was one of the restaurant’s cook, Aristaios. Who at that very moment had come up to the restaurant’s front counter to see what all the noise was.

His first mistake was making eye contact with Maize. 

“W-Welcome…?” 

Suddenly, Maize slammed her hands on the counter, looking Aristaios right in the eyes. “Hi! Do you have two jars of uncooked spaghetti?!” She rested her elbows on the counter and stared right at him, expectantly waiting for his answer. “Do you? Do you? Do you?” Maize blinked her eye at him very very quickly.

Aristaios was surprised to find himself at a loss for words. His throat felt dry and his hands were suddenly very sweaty. “I-I-I…” He gulped, “You’re really pretty…” As soon as those words left his mouth Aristaios decided he would be okay with dying today.

Maize looked at Aristaios almost like his head had fallen off. “Um, thanks?” What reason did he have for saying that? “Anyway do you have any uncooked spaghetti?” she asked again, “I heard the spaghetti you have is pasta-tively amazing! Haha! Get it? I said pasta!!”

Maize almost doubled over laughing at her own unfunny joke.

“You’re really funny too…” Aristaios said. Thankfully for him he was drowned out by the sound of Maize’s own laughing. He tried to shake off whatever feelings he was suddenly being pummeled with and focus on his job. “W-We do have uncooked spaghetti! If you n-need it!!”

Maize stood up from the ground, several wrappers intertwined in her hair from being on the ground. “Yay! Can I have some?”

“Sure.” Aristaios squeaked out. 

“Woah really?!” Was it really that easy? “Wow thanks! I was just gonna steal them while you weren’t looking!!” 

Maize waited patiently near the counter waiting for Aristaios to return with the uncooked noodles. She spent her time playfully tapping the counter with her hands in a rhythm. She wasn’t paying attention to either of her dolls. 

Venice was keeping himself busy hiding himself and scaring anyone who made the mistake of walking into the restaurant. It was incredibly entertaining for him. “Hehehe” 

Meanwhile, Sicily had climbed onto the counter with her own strength, taking a seat on it. “Wooow!” She flopped her elbows on her legs and held her head up with her hands. Sicily stared off into the kitchen where Aristaios had run off to. “Don’tcha think that guy looks kinda cute?”

“Huh?” Maize had no idea who Sicily was talking about. “The cook guy? Yeah I guess he was a little cute.” Either way, Maize hadn’t heard him say anything that gave her the clue that he would ever like her back. 

“I don’t think there’s a chance…”

My Wonder Woman Starter Recs (specific style 😎)

First stops: for an initial introduction to Wonder Woman, I'd generally recommend going to at least one of three places first. These three are:

Wonder Woman: Historia: The Amazons by Kelly Sue DeConnick

Wonder Woman: Year One by Greg Rucka

Wonder Woman: the Hiketeia by Greg Rucka

Of these I generally recommend reading Historia first, as it's a retelling of the origin of the Amazons as a race and how Diana came to be (so it essentially starts from the beginning) and is also the most recent of the them (if that means anything). Something to note about Historia though is that it's a DC Black Label book, so it's events aren't strictly canon in the main DCU and there are some changes and new elements present. I don't think this is something that should discourage anyone from reading it though, it's the best WW origin story out there, and even in strict main canon over the years her origin is one that has had many fluctuations and small (& sometimes big) changes. WW:Historia is three prestige format (longer) issues.

You'll notice the third book there is WW: The Hiketeia. Hiketeia is a great book if you're looking for a view into Diana as a professional and experienced hero. It's a graphic novel so standalone and not too long, and has a great Diana and really interesting plot (Diana vows to protect a young woman and finds herself pressed against the wheels of Greek Tragedy). This is also the first work with Diana done by Greg Rucka, one of her most prolific and loved writers. A sampling of this work (and also Historia) I think gives a good guide to where to go next in terms of runs on her main title.

Wonder Woman: Year One is the second book on the list up there, but I'm mentioning it last here as it's a bit more complicated in terms of format. Unlike other year one books, WW: Year One is actually a series of issues on her main title, showcasing Diana's arrival to man's world in Rebirth (and also current p sure) continuity. The issue numbering for this one is strange (only the even issues 2-14 on WW (2016)) so I recommend looking for this in trade form if possible.

These 3 books I think give a taste of some of the best standalone stuff in the Wonder Woman mythos, and give the reader a good idea of where they may want to go next in terms of longer runs on the title. So I'll break that down here as a Step 2.

STEP 2: WHERE NEXT?

Here I break down some highly recommended runs based on what they have in common with the standalone books from step 1. As a rule, these runs are going to be much longer than the above and generally more connected to the wider DCU and other books. Look for the italics to see the introduction to each new work. Explanation paragraphs follow after each italic/bold rec.

Curious about Greek mythology in WW and the Amazons' origins after reading Historia? Liked the prescence of a supporting cast and Diana learning about Man's World from Year One? Willing to read a longer run? I recommend: Wonder Woman by George Pérez

George Pérez's time on Wonder Woman totally reinvented the character after Crisis on Infinite Earths, and is fundamental in establishing many core concepts of her lore. At 62 issues, 2 annuals, and a 4-issue crossover event at the end (War of the Gods), it's definitely a commitment to read, but it's the most enduring and well-loved run on Wonder Woman for a reason--it's just that damn good. Lots of focus on mythology (although with a lighter tone than Historia) alongside Diana learning her role in relation to Man's World & establishing herself as a hero and ambassador. Pérez's run also has almost-certainly the most expansive and developed supporting cast in WW comics, something that really drives the emotional core of the series, especially in later issues. Obligatory note that this series was written between 1987 and 1992 and contains some very occasional aspects that I thought were in some way dated/uncomfortable etc. while reading (details of Cheetah's origin, depiction of the Bana-Mighdall, Hercules) but despite that I still highly, highly recommend this run. The word fundamental cannot begin to describe it.

Liked the experienced Diana of the Hiketeia? Interested to see her attempt to balance the high stakes responsibilities of an ambassador and superhero? Looking for some really badass moments and fights? Haven't read enough terrible tragedy? I suggest: Wonder Woman by Greg Rucka 2003 EDITION.

Some of Diana's coolest moments of all time are collected here. Also one of her most controversial. The 1st Rucka run is very much the story for anyone who liked the Diana of the Hiketeia and the tragedy of that and Historia. 2003 Rucka Diana is a Diana tested, forced to make decisions that are anything but easy, and live with the consequences. She's extraordinarily capable, but her enemies know that and are prepared to that end. This run, along with the Pérez run, rank among my favorite Wondy comics of all time (those and Historia are my top 3). This run is such peak Diana, especially in terms of sheer badassery. Her final confrontation with Medusa is in my opinion perhaps the greatest Wonder Woman fight scene of all time. Her encounter with Athena in the second-to-last issue breaks me every time. Cannot recommend this book more.

*a note abt this run is that it is more context-dependent than the other ones listed here, as it's the run that finishes out the Wonder Woman vol. 2 book and so has some guest appearances from characters introduced in other prior runs (Artemis of Bana-Mighdall, Cassie Sandsmark, and Vanessa Kapatelis, to name a few). I read this run before knowing much (if anything) about any of them, and still enjoyed it a lot, so I wouldn't be worried about this really but just thought I'd mention it.

Rucka's 2003 run is published from Wonder Woman (1987) #195-226. You can also find it in trade and I believe(?) omnibus. Sometimes the Hiketeia is included in collections of this series, as the 03 run is thematically similar in many places, just with a much deeper look at Diana and the world & with higher stakes.

Liked the specific characters and plot threads of Wonder Woman: Year One? Want to see what happens with Diana's exile, or learn more about Barbara Ann? Want a Diana in between the extremes of young and highly experienced? Wonder Woman by Greg Rucka 2016 EDITION may be for you.

...yes I'm putting ANOTHER Rucka book on here. He writes a great Diana, what can I say. This run is the same one that Year One came out of, just the follow ups to that story and versions of the characters. I have this run listed as separate from Year One though, as there's some really big time skips since the events of that first volume. A lot of time has passed since then, and there's more history between the characters, not all of it without drama. This run continues to be weird with the numbering, as well as some artist changes, so I definitely recommend looking into reading this in trade format (physical or digital) if at all possible. My recommended reading order is WW 2016 by Rucka vol. 2 "The Lies" (Wonder Woman: Rebirth Special #1, followed by 2016 main title odd numbered issues 1-11), then Rucka 16 vol. 3 "The Truth" (odds 13-23) then Godwatch (evens 16 through 24) followed by 25? But The Truth and Godwatch combine near the end so that doesn't really work either. This run is so good but recommending it is such a pain because the numbering is so all over the place. On God I never know which order to read this in. Going to revoke my previous statement and say read it as Rebirth Special 1, then only odds 1 through 11, then from 13 through 25 normally. That may lead to some weirdness as you read because the two stories take place at different times and have different art styles, but they come together at the end pretty dramatically so I think it's less confusing to read it this way? Maybe? So strange bc this is one of the go to good starter runs and yet it's set up so unintuitively. If someone has a better way to read this then let me know and ill edit, ik this explanation is super confusing bc neither way to read it is totally ideal imo and I feel I definitely read it in a weird order.

its not just a worm its a Wyrm its a pun. that is a concept. maybe you don't like it personally but to say its objectively bad is certainly Something. not every pokemon has to be based on a myth or something else fantastical to be a good concept. you Need "boring" pokemon for the dex to feel complete, if Everything is Cool then nothing is actually cool

"gamefreak is running out of ideas" yeah there's a billion fish pokemon but they're all actually very different to each other, lanturn is an anglerfish and lumineon is a butterfly fish. say what you will abt gamefreak rn its probably warranted but imo the one thing they still do right 100% of the time is unique concepts for each pokemon. the execution can be debated but the fundamentals are always there
